Shivoo was born out of a maddening truth: developmentally disabled individuals thrive when they have strong care partners — but many families can’t find any staff to hire. As professionals working in the special-needs community, we observed this heartbreaking shortfall everyday.

So we decided to create Shivoo, a hiring platform for our community, connecting developmentally disabled clients with dedicated care partners.

About Susan

Susan's life changed in 2011 when she and her husband welcomed Leah, a beautiful baby girl with Down Syndrome. For to these brand new parents, their life was transformed: therapies, doctors, education and a whole new community of friends. “We expected Italy and landed in Holland. It took us a bit, but we realized that Holland is truly as beautiful and amazing as Italy!”

Today, Leah is thriving, thanks to the dedication of her parents, her community and dedicated care partners.

For the past 6 years, Susan has been a Self Direction broker, working with families to develop strategies and find resources to help intellectually disabled individuals live integrated, fullfilling lives in their communities.

About Shivoo’s mission, Susan says, “I want to impart what I have learned, my passions and my commitment to empowering our next generation of people, of all abilities, into an inclusive world.”

About Chancy

Chancy has been a Self Direction broker and advocate for developmentally disabled individuals for over 7 years. She has extensive experience working with families to help them navigate the Self Direction system. Her passion is finding and developing programming that helps each individual reach their maximum potential.
